SBA Loan Officer

Responsible for supporting the small business lending strategy of the bank’s SBA Lending Department by structuring and completing loan analysis on new SBA loans as well as maintaining a portfolio of SBA loans for servicing.


  • Work directly with borrowers and bank loan officers to correctly assess credit worthiness and eligibility for SBA and conventional financing options.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external customers in a manner that supports the Bank and SBA Lending Department’s integrity and brand.
  • Interview referral sources and loan applicants to accurately screen loan applicants for SBA eligibility and credit worthiness per bank and SBA policies.
  • Develop accurate written proposals that appropriately take into account the bank’s credit window and policies, required loan structure, and currently acceptable terms and pricing.
  • Maintain appropriate internal and external customer expectations of excellent service, responsiveness and follow-up.
  • Exhibit an expert level ongoing working knowledge of the SBA’s programs and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Evaluate complex financial information to determine potential customer’s financial stability, debt repayment ability and collateral coverage by reviewing trends relative to industry standards, assessing recent financial performance and estimating potential risk to the bank focusing on projected cash flow results.
  • Prepare accurate written loan presentations that properly assess risk and correctly interpret the Bank and SBA Lending Loan policies.
  • Manage and service a portfolio of loans held within the SBA Lending Department.
  • Continuously learn and apply new SBA and bank rules, policies and methods of banking our commercial customers.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university (preferred degree in Business, Finance, or Economics) plus 3-5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
