Overview

Lead Credit Analyst

 

Is responsible for leading, developing and managing the Credit Analysts in the MN and WI markets. Continuous review, development, and implementation of standardized processes, procedures, and resources needed for the credit function.  Primary reviewer of requests for credit action originated from the MN, WI, and FL markets prior to being distributed to the respective credit authorities and/or committees for final consideration.

Responsibilities

  • The primary recipient of commercial requests from Portfolio/Relationship Managers, Business/Commercial Bankers, and/or Regional Presidents/Credit Officers that ultimately require a credit action (new money, renewal, annual credit review, etc.) that represent a gross credit exposure (existing or proposed before netting out participations) of $500,000 or greater.
  • Perform an assessment and review of the requested credit action and adherence to bank policies, bank procedures, banking laws, and regulations pertaining to the request with significant deviations reviewed and noted with the VP/Credit Administration and/or SVP/Senior Credit Officer prior to preparing the requested credit action.
  • Upon a review and assessment of the requested credit action, the work is to be assigned/delegated to the appropriate Credit Analyst personnel to meet both internal and external service expectations. This position will work directly on credit actions in lieu of assigning or delegating to other personnel based on considerations such as workload and complexity.
  • This position will occasionally complete requested credit action directly which requires the ability to review and interpret information from financial statements and tax returns (individuals, partnerships, corporations, etc.). This information, among other things, is then assimilated to properly analyze the sources of repayment, collateral, and other pertinent industry analysis to properly document our credit risk strengths and weaknesses with mitigating factors appropriately identified.
  • Ongoing review of credit actions from MN, WI, and FL to ensure quality credit risk analysis prior to the credit action being distributed for consideration to the appropriate credit authority.
  • Complete the initial data input and ongoing maintenance/updating of the “Upcoming Loan Request” tracking report for credit actions in process.
  • Perform and ongoing review of the “Commercial Pipeline Report” from OneView and “Funding Forecast” with an ongoing dialogue on the opportunities identified in the reports to ensure the information is accurate and viable including but not limited to (1) Pipeline Amount (2) Loan Amount (3) Projected Closing Date.
  • Distribution of the “Upcoming Loan Request” and other reports as needed to the Credit Administration Representative to be included on an ongoing and timely basis for the various meeting agendas of the loan committees (Denver/Florida, Rural, Metro, Executive, and Loan Strategy).
  • Review and monitor the credit administration process to ensure that policy and procedures related to credit are in place and appropriately communicated to the Credit Analysts and/or other impacted personnel.
  • Provide updates and other recommendations to the Credit Administration Representative for consideration of formal amendments/additions to credit policies and/or procedures on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist VP/Credit Analyst Manager with identifying and instituting needed resources and trainings as needed to meet departmental objectives.
  • Ensure that excellent service relationships are established and maintained with Portfolio/Relationship Managers, Business/Commercial Bankers, and/or Regional Presidents/Credit Officers across the entire organization through effective communication.
  • Facilitates and/or participates in meetings, trainings, and other forums as required to meet departmental objectives.
  • Resolution of auditor and bank examiner questions and exceptions as needed.
  • Occasional travel outside of the Twin Cities markets to our other markets as needed.
  • Work with Credit Administration team on annual due diligence review of vendors the bank uses in its normal course of business.
  • Review bond portfolio investment opportunities in conjunction with Finance and/or the Risk Management departments at the direction of the VP/Credit Analyst Manager and/or SVP/Senior Credit Officer.
  • Assists VP/Credit Analyst Manager with designated credits and special projects.
  • Provide support to the Credit Administration Representative in his/her absence on the compilation and distribution of agendas, meeting minutes, and other meeting materials to the various loan committees (Denver/Florida, Rural, Metro, Executive, and Loan Strategy) as needed.
  • Contribute, promote and steward the credit culture of MWO.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in business preferred and three to five years related experience and/or training in a lending, credit analyst, or regulatory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
