    Staff Accountant


    Is responsible for the preparation of various general ledger activities including reconciliations of accounts to sub-systems and posting of general ledger block entries. Prepares and calculates the daily cash management position and makes related entries. Prepares and files various regulatory reports. Periodically performs the reconcilement of the investment safekeeping listings to investment listing. Is responsible for making entries for FHLB advances and will assist, as needed, with various analysis and research projects.




    • Performs daily, weekly and monthly general ledger account reconciliations, including but not limited to asset, liability, income or expense accounts; in the case of the major asset and liability accounts this entails balancing sub-system reports to the general ledger principal, market value (where appropriate) and interest accrual accounts
    • Prepares/calculates the daily cash management report used to determine the most efficient and cost-effective way to balance the bank through federal funds sold or purchased, and records related entries.
    • Monitors Federal Reserve Bank transactions and balances, ensure reserve requirements are met, and assists with some regulatory reporting. Prepares and files the FR2900 report weekly. Prepares and submits the annual Summary of Deposits report to the FDIC.
    • Responsible for maintaining the FMS general ledger system to include the chart of accounts, reports and responsibility centers for the bank and the holding company. Will open, close, move or modify account information.
    • Records CDARS and ICS (Promontory products) transactions and activity to the general ledger on a periodic basis. Updates the Promontory website records for branch accounting of deposits. Reconciles Promontory reports to the general ledger based on frequency assigned. Is proficient in Promontory products and ensures that the reporting of these balances is in accordance with regulatory and SEC requirements.  
    • Performs the accounting and monitoring of other bank stock held for investment by the Bank and the Holding Company, including measuring potential impairment or write-down in value and performing accounting for same, accounting for the market value adjustments along with associated deferred taxes, and keeping a separate schedule of tax capital losses and carry forwards of this portfolio. Reconciles the administrative reports of this portfolio to the general ledger.
    • Responsible for the back up to the senior accounting Finance staff to perform functions in their absence.
    • Performs accounting and reconciling of the payroll related general ledger accounts, including posting of payroll-related general ledger entries.
    • Remits consumer use, backup withholding, and other state business tax deposits, and files the associated reports with each state the bank has offices.
    • Other duties may be assigned.


    Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a four-year college and two years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
