  • Overview

    We are looking for a Compliance Specialist with previous banking compliance experience. As a Compliance Specialist with MidWestOne Bank you will be responsibile for reporting of violations of deposit, lending and other consumer protection regulations both state and federal, to ensure a sound compliance program. The Compliance Specialist achieves this by performing compliance reviews. The role will assist with HMDA, fair lending and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) reporting responsibilities and data analysis, data mining, reporting generation, mapping as needed to support the CRA Officer. This position will carry out various support duties using a strong understanding of both deposit and lending regulatory compliance through anlaysis and reporting.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Performs periodic compliance monitoring reviews to assess performance and adherence to bank policy and regulatory requirements drafting reports and mitigation plans, tracking implementation and reviewing progress.
    • Analyzes compliance exposure identified in monitoring activities; develops and validates findings. Document this work according to audit standards.
    • Performs analytics work for fair lending and CRA programs, including mapping, report writing, and data mining as needed.
    • Consults and with business line to recommend and assist with changes and additions to policy and procedures based on monitoring and audit findings. Assists with implementation. Presents findings to Management and assists with implementation.
    • Assists with reviewing, updating, and training of regulatory compliance program.
    • Provides regulatory guidance as applicable in various project or product development groups and approves advertising and marketing requests.
    • Ensures timely review and annual reporting of CRA and HMDA data collection monitoring efforts
    • Maintains CRA compliance records that document participation and activities related to CRA for community development in loans, services and investments and corresponds with staff as necessary in this effort.
    • Attends and actively participates with the Fair Lending Task Force and Compliance Committee; assists with meeting preparation and documentation.
    • Stays abreast of changes to federal and state banking laws and regulations; maintains knowledge of bank services, policies and procedures and provides updates to appropriate departments. 
    • Assist in the administration of departmental computer technology systems, tools and programs

    Qualifications

    Associates degree required (Major in Business, Finance or Management preferred)

    • Previous compliance banking experience required with three to five years’ experience with increased responsibility
    • Compliance monitoring or internal audit experience preferred but not required.
    • Knowledge and understanding of consumer protection laws, regulations and compliance industry issues.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • General knowledge and understand of bank deposit and lending operations, lending activities, and other related consumer banking functions.
    • Regulatory compliance certifications (CRCM or CCBCO) preferred or willing to obtain certification within one year.
