  • Overview

    As a manager of customer payment delivery and related operational support, oversees the back-office payment functions for cards, wire transfers, and ACH functions while ensuring compliance with NACHA Operating Guidelines, and federal and state banking regulations.  Manages a team of direct reports specializing in various customer payment areas.  Leads the review of product and risk management of customer payments as well as emerging payment options.  Influences the timeline and service expectations for customer payment delivery at MidWestOne.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages payment functions and related service delivery while driving and inspiring a high level of customer care. Functional areas of supervision include cards, wire transfers, ACH oversight (RDFI and ODFI), and exception item processing.
    • Administers payment operations exceptions, processing, and support for back office functions which are regulatory compliant with clearing house entities (NACHA, FED, CHIPS, FEDWIRE, TCH, and RTP).
    • Oversees the product and risk management of customer payments, including ACH origination, cards/EFT and wire initiation, as well as emerging payment options.
    • Serves as the oversight specialist for RDFI and ODFI ACH functions.
    • Oversees the daily monitoring of ODFI ACH activity identifying anomalous activity and documenting such activity accordingly.
    • Responsible for reporting and monitoring for IT Steering Committee and the Board of Directors (i.e. wire activity reports, ACH review, and ACH Risk Exposure)
    • Serves as the contact for ACH, card and wire transfer audits and examinations while maintaining professional interactions with bank personnel and external auditors.
    • In collaboration with the 1st Vice President, Deposit Operations, is accountable for the review and timely resolution of current exam documentation, compliance, and/or audit findings for functions associated with the customer payment area.
    • In collaboration with the 1st Vice President, Deposit Operations, oversees and maximizes the administration and implementation of payment platforms, while also maintaining strong vendor oversight.
    • Drafts and recommends procedures to ensure clear direction is provided for the organization and adherence to compliance and regulatory standards are maintained.
    • Works in conjunction with the BSA Department to provide input on fraud related claims.
    • Assists with departmental projects and assignments related to payment delivery for the future.
    • Stays abreast of emerging changes in the banking industry and recommends concepts, procedures, products, and related support resources for consideration.

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of post high school education and related work experience

     

     5+ years of relevant payment and operations experience, required; Accredited ACH Professional designation, preferred with desire and ability to maintain within 12 months of start date; Familiarity with payment operations for the bank and have demonstrated ability to drive and inspire high service delivery which aligns with our risk appetite and company culture; Familiarity with faster payments and real time payment methodology.
