This role is responsible for driving the financial planning process with a primary focus on high-net worth clients in Private Wealth.  In addition to creating plans for more complex high-net worth clients, this role will also support the training and development of regional wealth planners, wealth advisors, and paraplanners.  This role will also consult as needed on plans created by financial advisors from the Investment Services (retail investments) team. This role is critical to helping MidWestOne build a “leading with planning” mindset and is a core part of the organic growth strategy of wealth management, with direct responsibilities related to new business development for our team.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning Oversight

  • Create customized plans for the most complex clients.
  • Consult as needed on plans created by Wealth Advisors (Private Wealth) and Financial Advisors (Investment Services).
  • Share best practices with our advisors, helping to cultivate the expertise of others across the division.
  • Continue to develop our financial planning process in Private Wealth allowing us to deliver consistent planning in our client and prospect relationships.
  • Train and mentor client-facing Private Wealth relationship managers allowing them to deliver financial plans and build basic plans for our clients and prospects.
  • Author thought leadership white papers and social media posts related to financial planning topics applicable to business owners and high-net worth individuals.
  • Oversee client presentation materials related to financial planning.
  • Expertise in financial planning is required; knowledge of eMoney is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout our footprint to support regional offices with the financial planning process and client/prospect presentations.
  • Public speaking engagements, including thought leadership, research and writing for outlines, Power Points, and other educational materials related to wealth management planning issues.

Team Management and Relationship Building

  • Supervise paraplanner(s) on the team including direct mentorship and oversight of planning delivery.
  • Ability to work well across business lines including Commercial and Retail partners in addition to our LPL Financial Advisor team.
  • Proven training ability in the financial planning space to increase our knowledge and planning
  • Field questions from other members of the Private Wealth team.  As necessary, independently research answers and engage in analysis. Represent the company at a wide range of professional activities, including attending industry events, continuing education programs, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with other specific professional or technical certifications in related field.
  • CFP® certification required.
  • 10+ years of related work experience driving the financial planning process for a Wealth firm.

Compensation

Hiring Pay Range: $150,000-$200,000 with bonus potential.

The starting pay range for this position is commensurate with experience. The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
